If it’s hard to say the grape’s name, it may be even harder to get your head around this wine. Gewurztraminer is one of the noble grapes of the Alsace Lorraine region. It has a highly aromatic bouquet, almost perfumed, and can have a dense unctuous or oily consistency. This is a funky one to try and experiment with. Peach, papaya, and orchids are what I got in my sensory overload. I have had great pairings of this grape with sausages and sauerkraut, as well as aromatically spiced food such as Chinese and Indian.
