Priorat, Spain

Priorat wines are love at first taste. Full body, spice. Plum, licorice, graphite on the nose. Palate of black cherry, licorice, and graphite. Carthusian monks started making wine here in the late 1100’s, and a unique soil type of black slate and quartz called llicorella imparts magnificent qualities on the Garnatxa (also known as Garnacha, Grenache Noir, Cannonau, and Alicante) grape wines.
