You will be surprised by the dark, inky color of this Barbera. It is luscious, rich, and cozy. Piedmont in Italy is home to big, epic red wines such as Barolo and Barbaresco. Choose the third “B”, Barbera d’Alba, it is a wonderful surprise that surpasses the others in quality and value. This wine goes through a bit of malolactic fermentation, making it soft, smooth, and enjoyable while young.
I was so pleasantly surprised by this wine, that I instantly knew we had to sell it by the glass at Klaustur to share such a beauty with our guests. Medium body and fruit forward. On the nose red cherry, blackberry, violets. Blueberry, cooked blackberry, and sweet balsamic on the palate. You could pair this wine with grilled pork, steak tacos, and even a burger given the price.
