Reykjavík, Hverfisgata 12

I can’t get enough of the funky yet cozy feeling of this old house. Perfect place to steal away from the cold outside. Potato pizza is amazing, great cocktail list, and solid beer list upstairs at the “hidden bar”. It’s an adventure wandering these halls. (photo credit: Google)

Reykjavík, Tapas Barinn

Long standing restaurant with consistent quality of service, warm environs, and a great spread of traditional and Icelandic tapas. I was impressed with the Legaris Crianza wine I had here. I’m even more impressed with the food & wine tasting program they run! (photo credit: Tapas Barinn Facebook)

Akureyri, Rub23

Diverse menu of grill and sushi, excellent execution. Extensive spirit list, in particular whiskies that I have not seen elsewhere in Iceland. Incredibly composed wine list at respectable prices. Never tried Garnaxa or Beaume de Venise? Try them here.

Vestmannaeyjar, Slippurinn

This is your reward for making the trip out to Vestmannaeyjar, and a reason in itself to go. Cocktails are made with local fresh herbs and ingredients, and given a lot of love as they are crafted. This, in addition to top Icelandic cuisine, warm welcoming staff, and amazing service.

Love Thy Neighbor

This is a shout-out to other bars and restaurants in Iceland that offer things we love, or are driving wine and beverage culture.
